Woven Ribbon Keepsake Box and WOYWW

Didn't get to post last week because I was involved in a project designing with May Arts Ribbon, and it is still all over my workspace.  I applied to make a project with some Candy Colored ribbon, and it turned out to be more complicated than I was expecting. My vision was to use the ribbon in a woven design and cover an empty box with it to upcycle the candy box.  I was hoping to somehow weave without taking out the dreaded sewing machine (the one that began smoking on me last year and I had to put it outside because it was so hot), but it just wasn't working, so I had to secure the ribbon on muslin.  After I wove it, I taped it to the inside of the box and added some handmade ribbon flowers.  I loved the ribbon colors, they reminded me of a maypole dance.

This was the box before I covered it.   You can see more entries on the May Arts Blog.  You can also see more fun workspaces at Julia's Stamping Ground, because it is What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #150, and everyone shows their creative spaces.

Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Love the ribbon covered box. It looks so festive with those colors. You did an awesome job with this. I've tried ribbon weaving and let's just say, one must have a lot of patience for it.
